COMPANY OVERVIEW & CAPABILITIES

Misal is an independent engineering company with activities involved in the design, manufacturing, installation, servicing and site construction works, in the fields of electrical, electronic, mechanical and hydraulic engineering. Additional activities include provision of engineering services to the Defence Department, R&D programs for new technologies and project management of some large projects.

The company was established in 1980.

1. SERVICES PROVIDED & MAIN ACTIVITIES:
 Design, Supply, Installation of Equipment & Systems incl. Project Management required for large industrial and government projects, including construction activities, commissioning and training. These projects are undertaken usually on a turnkey basis both in Australia and overseas.

2. TECHNOLOGY SUPPLY AREAS (PRODUCTS & SYSTEMS):

2.1. ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY:
 HV & LV Power Distribution Systems, Switchboards, Protection Systems
 Dry Cast Resin Transformers
 Oil Type Transformers (Up to 10 MVA)
 High Current DC Rectifiers and Rectifier Systems (New & Second Hand)
 Ducted Bus Systems for high power distribution
 Variable speed drives (HV & LV electric motors) – up to 2 MVA
 Portable pre-fabricated pad Mounted HV / LV switching Sub - Stations, with Cast Resin Dry Transformers, control and metering facilities

2.2. AVIATION INDUSTRY – GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT (GSE’s)
 Computerised rotor-testing facilities for the testing of aircraft propellers
 Hydraulic power units and distribution systems, including specialised hydraulic test benches for aircraft components. Installed power up to 220 kW
 Electric/electronic and pneumatic control systems for hydraulic equipment, including hazardous area equipment, incl. Power Units & Hydraulic Test Stations
 Aircraft Computerised Hydraulic Test Stations (ACHTS) – Fixed & Mobile types
 Computerised Hydraulic Test Stations for the RAN Collins Class Submarines

2.3. WATER SUPPLY INDUSTRY
 Manufacture of Billabong Hydraulic Rams for the last 22 years (a product designed some 80+ years ago by Messrs John Danks & Son and used in more than 30 countries around the world).

2.4. NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR TIMBER PROCESSING
Misal has for the last 12 years undertaken R&D activities into new technologies for processing timber. This Project is now completed and ready for commercialisation. The technology is based on Microwave irradiation of timber resulting in capabilities to utilise a very low quality timber and convert the resource into a high value add product with properties on the par with the highest grades of timber currently on the market. The technology has a global application.
